On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 19th Annual Conference of the Indian Stroke Association, which will take place in the Grant Hyatt Kochi from 13-15 March 2026. With our theme, "Stroke - Translating Research into Practice," we aim to bridge the critical gap between scientific discovery and clinical application, fostering meaningful dialogue and innovation in the field of stroke.
This year’s conference brings together leading neurologists, interventionists and researchers from around the globe. We will explore groundbreaking research, engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, and discuss real-world strategies to improve stroke care. Our diverse program includes keynote lectures, interactive workshops, debates, challenging case discussions, and a young neurologist forum that reflects the breadth and depth of Stroke medicine.

I am extremely happy that INSC 2026, First Apollo Thoracic Intervention Conference is being
organized by my good friend Dr. R Narasimhan in Chennai. Dr Narasimhan and I have been associated
with Apollo Hospitals for a Long time.
Thoracic Endoscopy was initially done by rigid bronchoscope and oesophagoscope which had its own
difficulty and complication.
With the advent of flexible bronchoscope, it has now becorhe much more comfortable for the
bronchoscopist and the patient. It has almost completely replaced the rigid bronchoscope for both
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like foreign body removal, dilatation and stenting. At present
Rigid scopes are used in pediatric Bronchoscopy, Foreign, body removal. Other procedures like EBUS
and Pleuroscopy, Thoracoscopy is frequently used.
In INSC there is a mixture of Pulmonologist, Thoracic Surgeon, Diagnostic and Therapeutic
Radiologist, Medical and Radiation Oncologist, Pathologist and Thoracic Anesthesiologist.
Number of Pulmonologist and Thoracic Surgeons are increasing because of the stupendous increase in
training programs all over the country.
In the field of Thoracic Surgery, minimally invasive procedures like VATS and RATS have taken over.
We will certainly do our best in making the conference a Grand Success.

This is a matter of great pride and privilege that departments of Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic
Surgery of Apollo Hospitals, Chennai is hosting the INSC (Apollo Thoracic Interventions
Conference) 2024 in Chennai.
Department of Respiratory Medicine in Apollo Hospital is a vibrant department. The department has
all the facilities that an international hospital can offer. We started humbly with a bronchoscopy
unit and later on added facilities like thoracoscopy both rigid and flexible, stenting, EBUS,
Cryobiopsies and Bronchial Thermoplasty. It was started by Dr. Raj B Singh and later many
pulmonologists built it brick by brick and brought it to a level where we get referral for many
challenging respiratory diseases. We also run post graduate courses for respiratory diseases and
Fellowship for Interventional Pulmonology.
Our department would not have grown to this level if Professor Rajan Santosham the Doyen of Thoracic
Surgery was not there to support us in any of our efforts to get the diagnosis. The second
generation of Thoracic surgeons Dr. Rajeev and Dr. Ajay have started carrying forward the good work
that was started by Dr. Rajan Santosham by doing complicated VATS and Robotic surgeries.
The conference is aimed at enriching all practicing and budding pulmonologists along with ENT and
Gastroenterologists the recent trends in medical science with regards to their fields. I am sure the
scientific committee is busy preparing the list of topics and the workshop details so that the
conference will be grand and enriching with good scientific content.

2024 being held from 3 rd to 5 th May 2024 at Chennai, organized by the Department of Respiratory
Medicine and Department of Thoracic Surgery, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
There have been remarkable
developments in the fields of Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic Surgery and we have designed a
program, so as to capture the essentials, in a nutshell!
Workshops, Talks ,Debates and Panel Discussions have been organized ,so as to engage everyone's
interest!
